What Guests Are Saying
Waxmyrtle Campground is a beloved annual destination for many, offering clean, spacious, and private sites with beautiful surroundings. Visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, proximity to the beach, and helpful camp hosts, although some note noise from nearby ATV activity and the need for improved maintenance in certain areas. Overall, it’s a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of recreational opportunities nearby.

Site #35 is a relatively secluded spot. It does have a somewhat clear view of site #34 but we hung up a tarp which solved that problem. There is a decent amount of foliage between sites but we were backed up to site #28 and while we couldn't see them at all we could definitely hear them. So if you're expecting peace and quiet at this site but a large group stays in site #28 you'll definitely have some noise to deal with. Luckily the group staying there wasn't too obnoxious but we did learn that they had a dog named Papi who they called repeatedly and that one of their family members had to go to the hospital once for eating too many hot cheetos.
Noise aside, we had a very enjoyable experience at Waxmyrtle Campground and would definitely come back. Site #35 is close to a water spigot and both bathrooms. We were also able to walk our paddle boards to the bridge no problem. The camp host was friendly and attended to the bathrooms regularly.
Don't miss out on the wonderful viewpoint from the trail by the campground that goes to the beach. The trailhead is by site #15.

I never give anything a stellar review. But the Wax Myrtle camp site on the Oregon coast exceeds all expectations. The sunsets, the stars, the wildlife, the weather were all perfect. I’ve been camping here for over 25 years and I can’t wait to get back again.

Clean, private campground near the beach & dunes. It was close by several other campgrounds within the Oregon Dunes recreation area. FYI- there are no showers at Waxmyrtle, but you can use the showers at the adjacent Driftwood II campground which are a walk or short drive away. Showers are only available between 8am- 2pm at Driftwood and require quarters to operate!

We come to this campground every year and love our stays. Clean, nice sites, quiet, although we can sometimes hear the ATVs on the dunes. Showers are available at Driftwood for no fee, but unfortunately, only open 8 am to 2 pm.

Nice big sites. No water access unless you are camped right on the river.

There needs to be a better place to launch kayaks into the Siltcoos River. Site 2 needs a trail cut to the river.

In campsite 7, iur first night was fine, but the next day a large group moved in behind our site and these sites haveno trees or anything separating them, it was like they were in our lap. We moved a tent to try to get some space but it was hopeless.
