Waxmyrtle Campground is a beloved annual destination for many, offering clean, spacious, and private sites with beautiful surroundings. Nice area!! Glad I was able to get two spots next to each other, took my husband side of the family camping for the first time and they enjoyed it! Bathrooms were kept clean, the walk to the beach was nice, 7am walk to the beach was amazing! The view was even better, wish I had gotten up earlier to see the sun rise. Met one of the host for sure lovely lady, very nice! Easy access to water & garbage bins , only bad thing was we weren’t able to use FirePit due to fire season, but we did use our propane stove for some fire at night to do s’mores

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to kayak out to the ocean.
The camp sites are big enough for a large tent with space to set up a play pen for the littlest campers. We loved seeing the river otters playing throughout the day as they swam to and from the dam feeding on fish.
Only complaint was the fire ban because every camping trip is incomplete without a campfire.

The campsite was fairly clean and ready to go when we got there. There were some shrubs to provide some privacy.

Great campground right next to the Wax Myrtle trail to the beach. Lovely being there in the early mornings and late evenings. Only downside was the noise of the ATVs in the Dunes across from the river but this was only during the day.

Beautiful spot, quiet (a mile off the highway so no highway noise), lots of wildlife to watch, and trails to hike nearby.
Most campsites are very private.

Generators. Generators. Generators. It’s impossible to enjoy any sort of peace in a campground these days. The sites are small so think twice about sharing a spot with friends. Oh and how I could I forget the incessant other sound - the ATVs on the Dunes. It’s really too bad because it could be a nice campground. The Forest Service really needs to designate areas for tents and areas for generator loving RVers.

Fabulous campground. Stayed here twice this summer/fall. Love it. Campsites are great and the campground is clean and fairly quiet. Love the walk to the beach.
