About Dovre Recreation Site

Want to camp? Camping season is generally May-September, with Alder Glen and Elk Bend remaining open through the weekend following General Western Oregon Coast 2nd Season for elk. During months with reduced sunlight, potable water may be turned off. Be prepared to bring your own wash and drinking water. Reserve a site at one of our four campgrounds on recreation.gov or pay when you arrive for non-reserved campsites using the Recreation.gov Mobile App. You must download before you reach the site since there is no cell reception in the drainage.  A place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the electronic age. Dover is the Bureau of Land Management’s western most campground in the Nestucca River Recreation Area. The campground sits along the Nestucca River National Back Country Byway and newly designated Nestucca Wild and Scenic River (https://www.rivers.gov/rivers/nestucca.php). The Byway takes travelers on a slow, leisurely route that winds through Oregon's Coast Range. The Nestucca River is renowned for fishing opportunities and beauty.

The site was amazing. We booked three sites for the whole family. Site 1 is a bit smaller and just outside of the actual camp ground. Perfect for a camping trailer. Water hole is great!

It’s cool you can hear the creek at any site. Also, the highway is not used much so I only heard three cars all night. Facilities are as described . I DO NOT recommend site 5. I don’t know how it’s even a spot. It’s basically just a double wide parking spot with a small patch of gravel for a tent. 9 and 10 are great for less noise. Combining 7 and 8 gives you a lot of flat space. Also if someone is smoking cigarettes at site 5 or 4, it will go directly down to site 6 so beware. The water in the creek was super low in august so easy to walk into. Camp host was super sweet. Let me switch from 6 to 9 because of the cigarette smoke (I am allergic).

Very Small Campground, Sites are literally RIGHT next to each others. Overall decent place to stay for just a night, or book multiple sites for a gathering.
Also no campfires or charcoal cooking until September 30th.
The host was amazing!

It was a great spot! Right next to the river, and a private entrance towards the back. It’s next to the two other river access points but we saw one person, which was not bad at all. We had our two dogs, so the drive down into the site was great and made it feel very secluded. The bathroom was clean and it was not very crowded at all.

Couldn't find location. Internet was off and the directions kept telling me to go down random roads.

Site #5 is VERY small. We were able to fit our two-person tent, but I can't see it fitting more than two small tents. It also has no privacy and shares parking spaces with the adjacent site. That said, it has its own private trail leading to a small bank by the river. We were able to set up our hammock and chairs and spent the whole time relaxing by the Nestucca; it was heaven! The host was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are decent, not terrible. This is a smaller campground, and feels more intimate.

Dovre is a beautiful campground and we loved how small it was, in that there were not more than 10 spots. The river was beautiful, almost to cold to swim, but that is Oregon water. The overall location was nice, because there was no cell service and no neighbors that were not also camping.

We got sites 3, 5, and 6, and they were nice. The only down side was they were not close to eachother. It was hard to see from the pictures provided, but the campground is on a large hill, so we couldn't be very near to our other campers.

We did not understand why the pavillion had to be rented, as there were so few people, and no one was using it. Additionally, that they did not have trash was difficult. We were not too mad because we understand there have been budget cuts, but it was just inconvienent.

The bathrooms were cleaned and well maintained. The camphost was so kind and did not really come talk to us much, which is what we wanted. The actual camp sites were cute and great for tent and car camping. It was great to have potable water.

People set up camp at day use area at 9:00 pm. Cars going in and out throughout the night when site is full. My vehicle was backed into and the person didn’t leave a note. No quiet hours. Site was extremely small and near the road. Do not recommend

Dovre Campground is amazing!!!! Peaceful and gorgeous, sits right on the river. Camp host is the bee’s knees! Super friendly and helpful! Campsite was clean and perfect, as were the bathrooms. I almost want to keep this place a secret, but I’ll share about this gem!
