Allen Springs Campground is praised for its stunning location along the Metolius River, offering beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the campground's accessibility to nature, including hiking and wildlife sightings, and the presence of a helpful campground host. However, some concerns were noted regarding maintenance, such as rotting picnic tables and lack of potable water, along with occasional issues with noise and site reservations. Overall, it remains a beloved destination for many campers.

We love the beautiful Metolius and this campground. It was quiet & peaceful this weekend. We enjoyed riverside hikes & exploring the fish hatchery grounds. Lovely June wildflowers & birds too.

I have been camping at these Metolious River campgrounds since I was a little kid.
I have one suggestion - there are very few campsites that offer a view of the river anymore. Please consider cutting some of the foliage down with in the camping sites so that the river view camp sites can actually see the river. The river system seems healthy, removing scrubery and small trees and brush along 1-2% of the river I doubt would harm the Metolious River ecosystem.
We got lucky with Allen Spring's #12,,,,, we could see the river!!

It would be extremely helpful if there were a sign at the entrance to site 1 and 2 that noted which sites were accessible and that said no outlet. We witnessed two groups with trailers have extreme difficulty backing out on the road. Also, there were many people just looking at the site. Creates a lot more dust with all the autos turning around. We do love the Metolius! Staying at Candle Creek next week!

It’s a nice little spot, but it wasn’t cleaned up at all. There was absolutely no defensable space and we had to clear a lot of pinecones and pine needles. There was no escaping the pitch with all of the needles. The poor dog was covered. There’s also a walking trail that runs on two sides of this site. There wasn’t a huge amount of traffic, but I imagine it increases with the season.

Lovely, peaceful, clean, spread-out campground alongside the clear consistent Metolius River. The ONLY drawback is no water at the campground.
