What Guests Are Saying
Allen Springs Campground is praised for its stunning location along the Metolius River, offering beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the campground's accessibility to nature, including hiking and wildlife sightings, and the presence of a helpful campground host. However, some concerns were noted regarding maintenance, such as rotting picnic tables and lack of potable water, along with occasional issues with noise and site reservations. Overall, it remains a beloved destination for many campers.

Always one of our favorites for over 20 years, even without water (fish hatchery and Camp Sherman store are not that far away). Lovely to see the fall colors along the river! Chilly weather at night, mildly warm during the day for our 6-mile round-trip walk to Lower Bridge, then up to the fish hatchery and back to Allen Springs. Very nice the the fire-ban was modified to allow campfires in areas that have the fire rings.

Someone was in my reserved space. By the time someone came and told them it was my space, they were there 20 hours into my time of two days. Where I had to park, people were very loud. Dogs were running loose and nothing was done about that. There was no camp host.

Allen Springs is a beautiful campground and we had a lovely time. The campground host was very nice and allowed us to switch sites because there was no shade in ours (site 08). However, the second night that we were there, the camp host disappeared in the early afternoon and didn’t come back. The women next to us got drunk, made a huge fire and were at high volume until 11pm. I tried asking them to be quiet and it just made things worse. I wish he would have stayed. We love this campground. A bald eagle landed across the river from us, and deer walked through our site. There are also very friendly chipmunks!

campsite was super nice under 2 massive douglas firs. it rained the first day but out tent and my daughter and i stayed dry under the massive trees. The river was so close we could hear it as we slept. Mountain bike riding at suttle lake was all time. The lake is beautiful. We also went into bend to go white water rafting in the Deschutes river. I love the central Oregon part almost better than the surf at seaside with the crab. Love that site. be back soon.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The facilties are clean, and there were no generators. Restoring the water service to those faucets would be nice!

The campground is clean and quiet. Pit toilet is well maintained.
Matthew, the camp host, was awesome! Friendly and very informative, especially about fishing the river.
