Allen Springs Campground is praised for its stunning location along the Metolius River, offering beautiful views, clean facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the campground's accessibility to nature, including hiking and wildlife sightings, and the presence of a helpful campground host. However, some concerns were noted regarding maintenance, such as rotting picnic tables and lack of potable water, along with occasional issues with noise and site reservations. Overall, it remains a beloved destination for many campers.

Gorgeous view of the river. Easy camping. No bugs. Big enough site so the river trail does not go right through the campsite.

Despite the troubles with forest fires, our stay was wonderful.

Gorgeous campground. We stayed in 16. The site was very large and just up from the river. It was protected from the wind that a few of the other sites were experiencing. There's no running water at the camp ground. The vault toilet was REALLY clean; thank you! Our only complaints were people leaving their campfires unattended (we put them out) and someone having range practice across the river that went on for a half hour both Friday and Saturday nights.

Either use a larger volume trash dumpster or have more frequent trash pickup. Trash over flowing during our two week stay. Fire pits are not maintained as we found ash and burned wood debris in shallow part of Metolius river, probably dumped by a camper that cleaned excessive ash buildup from the fire pit. The camp host was congenial but indicated he was managing four other camp sites. Pit toilets were almost overflowing but were finally pumped out a few days before we left. We have been camping at Allen Springs for 30 years and love the areas natural beauty. Hope CLM will take more interest in managing this the Metolius river camp sites.

Site was large with plenty of space from the adjacent sites. Also had direct river access and a beautiful view.
Unfortunately a trail runs directly through the site so hikers frequently walked through. When we checked it, it seems the trail actually ends at the campground but continues as an access trail to connect camp sites, but the hikers continued on anyway. It was frustrating having 30 or so strangers walk through the middle of our site all day, when we came for some seclusion and an escape from people (especially because people naturally feel the need to talk as they walk through, ask about our day, etc, which is fine and polite, except again, it was over 30 people and from 8am until 6pm, and we wanted to be left alone)
