We love this campground. The sites and pit toilet are always tidy. The sound of the Metolius roaring by lulls us to sleep. The numerous trails give ample opportunities to hike. The trails also lead to multiple river access points. We will return!

We love this campground. The sites and pit toilet are always tidy. The sound of the Metolius roaring by lulls us to sleep. The numerous trails give ample opportunities to hike. The trails also lead to multiple river access points. We will return!

I camp at the Metolius every year. Love it! The area is kept in good shape by the Rec staff/Rangers and even the campers who live up to the "leave no trace" behind mantra. The campground was clean and the restroom was cleaned daily. It is such a beautiful area that deserves to be respected and preserved for generations. Finally, the booking process was simple and the reservation reminder was helpful. Till next year....!

Great, small, and off the beaten path campground! Large sites that can accommodate several tents with nice fire rings and large picnic tables. The nearby creek and Metolius River make for excellent white noise that drowns out any sound of neighbors. There is not much undergrowth to provide a visual block for neighbors but sites are large enough that we were not bothered by this at all. Good access to hiking and fishing. Would definitely return!

We always enjoy our experience at Candle Creek C.G. Unfortunately, and at no fault of the C.G., numerous cars drove around the end roundabout and unintentionally covered us in layers of dust. If you drive through, please be courteous to the campers and drive slowly. It is a dusty camp ground.

While there were some harrowing moments getting to this campground with our 16' pull-behind toy hauler (last mile or so is dirt road with a couple of knarly soft sand areas that you have to plow through quickly or risk getting stuck), upon arrival the site was amazing. HUGE sites (we could have had 6 more people with us each in their own tent), right on the rushing whitewater of the Metolius. The river is loud. :)
Clear, dusty sites. Little to no stargazing due to lots of tree cover. No host, no potable water. Really great secluded campground - which is saying a lot for Central Oregon in the summer!

From Sisters, OR: Travel 12.4 miles northwest on Highway 20, then 12.3 miles north on Forest Road 12, and then 1.6 miles east on Forest Road 1200 980.
Candle Creek Campground is accessed via Highway 20, which is approximately 12.4 miles southeast from Sisters, OR.
Elevation: 890 feet

Policies & Rules
General
- Passenger Cars not adivised on road going into campground.
- This is a no water facility so campers will need to bring their own supply.
- The camping fee includes entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle, any extra vehicles will be subject to an extra vehicle fee at the campground.
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment and tires before using lake or trails.
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- During your time in Central Oregon, you can find wildfire, prescribed fire and smoke information at centraloregonfire.org .
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (NOON) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. - Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof. Camping or occupying any location on all National Forest lands for more than 28 calendar days total during a calendar year is prohibited.
- NO generator use is allowed in campgrounds between 10:00PM and 7:00AM (36 CFR 261.10). Silent power banks or battery powered devices are allowed.
