Great area off the beaten path (rough road into the campground, so recommend truck or SUV to get in) and right next to the Metolius. Small campground with huge sites, so we had plenty of privacy. Only complaint was the online campground map we used to book our site is inaccurate. We booked Site 3 since the map appeared to show it being farther away from the restroom than Site 2 (which appeared to be directly across from the restroom) but Site 3 is actually the site just across from the restroom. Not ideal- we don't recommend someone booking Site 3 unless it's the only site left. All the other sites were in a great location, however, so can't go wrong with any other site. Fun trip and gorgeous area!

Hard to find and terrible roads but we will definitely go again due to the remote location which provided private streams to explored and a peaceful atmosphere shared by fellow campers. Loved that there were several respectful families around for our boys to learn from. Beware, there’s no potable water here!

I would like my money back!! We could not reach the campground because there is no connection, there are no signs on the road and when we found one, the road was all sandy. In the website they “suggest” that is not good for normal car, but this road is only good for a 4x4 car!!! They should be more clear!!!!

Aside from a rough road to get to the campsite, it is an absolutely gorgeous campground! Great little hike south of the campground with access to the metolius for fishing or swimming but temps are near freezing all year long. Very clean campsite and super quiet campground. We had enough space for 10 tents easily. We plan on returning in the future!

We attempted to approach this campground from the East. Due to a fire the road was closed. We turned around to attempt to enter the campground from the West. We drove down 7 miles of rutted road and were met with orange cones and a sign blocking the road stating it was impassable. Off in the distance a large plume of smoke was billowing and I believe this fire may have reached the campground. we turned around and sought another site but all of the campgrounds on that road stated "reservation only". At this point we had spent five hours trying to reach the campground. We headed home and I requested a refund. Apparently only a small part of what I paid is refundable which I find very unfair since I would have stayed had I been able to reach the campground. From the reviews this apparently is a great campground but only go if you have an off road vehicle. This was not made clear on the website.

Candle Creek Campground is accessed via Highway 20, which is approximately 12.4 miles southeast from Sisters, OR.

Policies & Rules
General
- Passenger Cars not adivised on road going into campground.
- This is a no water facility so campers will need to bring their own supply.
- The camping fee includes entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle, any extra vehicles will be subject to an extra vehicle fee at the campground.
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment and tires before using lake or trails.
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- During your time in Central Oregon, you can find wildfire, prescribed fire and smoke information at centraloregonfire.org .
- Reserved Sites will be held until check out time (NOON) the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. - Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof. Camping or occupying any location on all National Forest lands for more than 28 calendar days total during a calendar year is prohibited.
- NO generator use is allowed in campgrounds between 10:00PM and 7:00AM (36 CFR 261.10). Silent power banks or battery powered devices are allowed.
