What Guests Are Saying
Pine Rest Campground offers a beautiful, quiet setting by the Metolius River, ideal for fishing and hiking, with spacious campsites surrounded by large ponderosa pines. Guests appreciate the campground's proximity to the Camp Sherman store and the scenic hiking trails, though some note that the trails lack proper signage and that the fire pits could be improved. Overall, it’s a beloved spot for camping, with great river access and a peaceful atmosphere.

It was the 3rd time I have stayed at that campground. Absolutely love it there. It's at a georgous bend in the river, great fishing spot, and close enough you can walk right up to Camp Sherman store! Lots of hiking,
lots of, lots of fishing.

This was a beautiful, quiet, tent-only campground situated right on the Metolius River. Large ponderosa pines surround the campsites which are very spacious. There is easy access to the hiking trail along the river with a distance of 1.7 miles to the Camp Sherman store and (in the opposite direction) 3.5 miles to the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery (although the trail goes quite some distance beyond either of these points. Unfortunately, the trail is not well-marked through the Pine Rest campground, so that hikers tend to walk right through any campsite, occupied or not. It would be useful if hikers could be circumvented through the parking area with clear marking that would avoid walking through campsites.

Lovely view of the Metolius. Nice large campground. Drawbacks we have are the fire pit is not very deep. Would love to have the old type of pit.
And no running water. Why did they remove the water spout?

Small campground, lovely access to the water from site 4, perfect jumping off spot for hiking, fly fishing, and stand-up paddle boarding at Suttle Lake. The hiking trail does go right through the riverfront sites, but people are respectful and it was not a problem. Don't miss going to the Camp Sherman store for delicious coffee and sandwiches and other accoutrements.

Pine rest site was awesome. Great being next to the river. A bit chilly early AM first week of October.
