Smiling River Campground

I was in site 24 which was beautiful. It is a pull thru that says max length 40ft. My trailer is just shy of 34ft. It was very difficult to get it out of the space due to the curve of the site and surrounding trees, stumps and posts.
Biking around the area was fabulous. A trip to the fish hatchery and a pic of Wizard Falls is a ‘must do’.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. We hiked the loop from Lower bridge to the fish hatchery, then back on the other side of the river. Beautiful.

We love the campground and the Metolius river. I gave this a "good" rating as we had challenges upon arrival. We reserved two campsites 6 months in advance but, upon arrival to the campground both of our campsites were occupied by a first come firs serve arrival. The "availability" tag at each designated site was not marked that it was reserved. The camp host was enjoying his day off so, we were put in an awkward position to have to tell the campers that they had to vacate the site as it was reserved by us. This was a bad position that we were placed in because the camp host didn't do his job.

Camping on the Metolious River at Smiling River is always a relaxing and beautiful experience, even though it rained unexpectedly the first day there. Awesome camping spot.

Trash so full that bags were laying out at each container.
Been camping at Smiling River since late 90's. There has been nothing done with the "outhouses" since then. They very badly need torn down and rebuilt. So sad to see that along this mystical river.
