Beautiful spot. First week was rainy & cool but next week was lovely. Lots of green grass & wildflowers. Plenty of hiking, biking & fishing.

Great campground. Camp host didn’t stay on top of putting up reserved signs. We had to kick someone out of our site when we got there. They took it because it had an open sign at 4 in the afternoon. It was the second site they had that experience in that day at Smiling River.

Great campground however the pit toilets could have been better taken care of. Very smelly. We visited a couple of the other nearby NF campgrounds and their facilities were in much better condition.

We were especially impressed by the friendliness, help and kindness we had from our camp host, Paul Lampson. We loved the large camp sites and quiet atmosphere. The river is gorgeous and it feels like you're far away from the rat race, yet there are great services at the near- by Camp Sherman Store. Even the sites near the road were quiet due to the low number of vehicles that passed by. This was our third visit and we will be back in September.

My only complaint is we were notified there would be no water at camp two days after we arrived. It would have been helpful to have signs on pumps indicating the problem. We witnessed multiple times others made trips to the different pumps. And three of our friends who camped there had issues with mice. Otherwise, we love camping in this park. The new host was friendly and helpful telling us where we could get water.
