What Guests Are Saying
Hearts Content Recreation Area offers a beautiful, quiet campground in an old-growth forest, with well-kept sites that provide privacy and amenities like picnic tables and fire pits. The staff is friendly and maintains cleanliness, particularly in the bathrooms. While there are some concerns about a stump at site 9 and the availability of firewood, overall, visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and numerous hiking opportunities.

Wonderful campground host. Clean, orderly campground. Well-designed and we’ll-drained sites. Pit toilets were more clean and far less smelly than one might expect. Within walking distance to wonderful hiking trails.

This is such a great campground and such history there. There is some of the best hiking trails based out of this campground in the Allegheny Forest. It is nice to have this campground. I would like to see this be a no generator campground or only from 7-9am and 5-7 pm. Most campers come here for the solitude and naturalness of the wilderness.

This is one of my favorite places to camp this time we brought family and all the kids and it was perfect. A nice playground to play at and spacious sites that aren't on top of one another. Also not very busy so you don't have to worry about cars coming and going. Close to a nice trailhead and there vault toilets were clean and well taken care of.

Having a shelter made the difference between this trip being good and being miserable.
Beautiful area even in the rain.

When we arrived, there was a family reunion happening, and cars were parked everywhere. After the initial attempt to park our camper in our reserved spot, the camp host moved us to another spot that was very nice. The hosts were very nice and helpful!

I stayed at site #11. It was my first time sleeping in an Adirondack style shelter. I set up a cot and used a modular sleep system for the night. It dipped into the low 50s but I was plenty warm and I had a nice view of the fire from my sleeping bag. I could also enjoy seeing the moon through the trees and the sun shining through the next day.
The campground and campsites were in great condition and the host family were very friendly.
I took advantage of hiking in the Hearts Content Scenic Area. The trail there was well maintained and traveled through some very impressive old growth forest. I also took advantage of hiking some of the North Country Trail located near by. There are other trails in and around the campground so I would consider this a hikers paradise as well.
If your looking for a quiet get away I would definitely suggest you visit the Hearts Content Campground.
