This was not our original reservation. The campground had been closed due to prior flooding and we had been unable to reach anyone by phone until 4 days before the reservation date. They planned to reopen two days before our reservation date but not our section. Nobody notified us about this. The ranger I finally reached on the phone was very helpful. I appreciated that she let me know what spaces were empty for me to change the reservation and even pointed out they had one electric spot left. We weren't able to get an electric spot the first time. This site has a significant slope to it. Enough so, that it was a challenge to unhitch and we were unable to get fully level.

We love Shenango! We go back here after year. However, the last couple years we have had a little bit of problems with skunks. The skunks are not scared of humans at all, and have come right between chairs at the fire ring when we were sitting out. We have to really watch our dog and our friend’s dog whom was on a leash got sprayed and they had to leave. The skunks should be trapped and relocated. I know of a few friends who won’t come back until they are.

Overall it was a good experience. Disappointing that several areas of the campground are closed.... not sure what bird species is being protected?

I was overcharged for ine night…another person used site that I was charged for. Not right or ethical.

Due to flooding, we were forced to move twice. When they asked if we would move a 3rd time, we packed up and left. However, the rangers were very informative and were always available for questions. I have been going to this park for 20+ years and these are some of the best rangers you have had. They took care of getting our refunds in order as well. If it wasn't for the weather and having to move twice, I would have given my experience a 5 star.

Such a beautiful view of the lake. My 2 year old loved it. We fished right from camp too!

I thought that the shower house closest to the GLOO area had been remodeled and it hasn't been. It may be clean, but it looks disgusting. Other than that, the campground was excellent. Friendly, helpful camp hosts, nice camp sites.

The sites are too hard to back into with a large rv, due to the drainage ditches and the site posts. The trees and shrubs all need trimmed. And the sites need more gravel. They also need more electric sites.

Take Exit 4B (formerly Exit 1) off I-80 and follow Route 18 north about 6 miles until you cross the lake's causeway. The park is on the left, but this is a divided highway. Continue north about 1/4 mile, take the Birchwood Drive exit, make the turn-around and go south on Route 18. Before you cross the causeway again, make a right onto West Lake Road and travel approximately 1/4 mile to the park entrance on the left.
