Bush Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful campsites, clean facilities, and particularly the outstanding campground host, Darlene, who is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful to guests. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, opportunities for fishing, boating, and wildlife sightings, such as bald eagles. While some minor issues were noted, like long grass and maintenance concerns, the overall experience is positive, with many campers eager to return.

Always have a great time camping here. Only complaint was the grass was very high. Setting up the tents in the grass while the grass was ankle deep was a downside. Being in the back woodsy spots may have played a factor into it but we all had ticks crawling on our legs and feet from the grass being so high even while wearing bug spray.

Nicely sized sites, buried in the woods. Campground host very accommodating and helpful.

My family and I spent 2 nights there in our tents and we had such an awesome time! They added a short rock wall and tether ball to the playground area and the kids LOVED IT! We were thrilled to see something new added to the site. We were lucky with great weather went we went and the lake water was so warm! My dad's Seadoo measured the water at 83 degrees. The kids had a blast swimming! It would be nice if they could somehow transition the area where the kids swim into more of a beach area... the rocks are just pretty rough on bare feet and at times the concrete barriers for vehicles are under the water and impossible to see.. so we've had some trips and even slips in those areas because the concrete gets really slick. The only other slight inconvenience was that the grass was pretty high throughout the campsite. So in the morning our shoes were getting soaked from dew. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning this summer!! Highly recommend! :)

I would like to preface my review by stating that there is no perfect site when camping. Only what is perfect for you. We tow a pop up camper. The sites here are very comfortable. We saw everything from tents to motorhomes, in smaller sites than ours. We chose site 011. We did have to level quite a bit, but isn’t that the fun of it? We love a good challenge. I encourage you to stop here. From the super friendly host, Darlene, to the incredible shower, our weekend was flawless. The campground is a short walk to the Loyalhanna lake. Where boating, kayaking, swimming, and fishing are all around. The highlight of this campground, for me, is the Bald Eagles. While my husband fished I got to enjoy a fantastic show. There is also a nice playground, and a big pavilion. Overall a very comfortable, and quiet stay.

Spot 23, a tree is too close to the parking area, can not open RV awning. Otherwise, great park overall!
