Great campground. Hosts were friendly and extremely helpful. Be sure to bring drinking water - there's none on site. North Country Scenic Trail runs right next to the campground.

Nice to get back to nature in the foot hills of the Allegheny National Forest. My brother and I had a great time hiking, kayaking and swimming. Park hosts where very nice and helpful, park was clean and enjoyable with Tionesta creek right out our door!
Planning return trip in fall

For over 10 years I have traveled from Akron, Ohio to Kellettville, Penn a few times a year. It was one of my favorite places to camp. Usually quiet and peaceful, of course now and then you would get someone with a loud generator or barking dog, but you have to expect annoyances now and then.
I am retired from the City Of Akron after 30 years, and my now ex-girlfriend is retired from Summit County with over 40 years, so I am very much aware of Government decisions. Someone has to improve on how things are done, doesn't matter how the "public" likes or takes to it, and of course, once implemented, there's no turning back and admitting defeat. "If it ain't broke..." is never on the minds of the civil servants who have ideas.
Kelletteville was run on a first come first served basis. If I arrived and my favorite spot was taken, of course I felt bad, but I looked for the next best spot, taking into consideration the spot itself and the other campers. It worked very well, no one ever had a problem for all the times I camped there.
Now my favorite spot is booked until October. I ended up in between two large trailers, and although the people were very nice, I go camping to get away from being closed in. But I couldn't move, because that was my assigned spot, even though there were other spots in the park that were open. I had the same problem last year. Also one time, I was the only one in the park for three days. I called Recreation.gov on the phone to see if I could move, I was told I could not. I ended up booking the other spot and paying for both, and moving in the morning.
It just seems to me the old way was more client oriented instead of Administration oriented. Now we are trapped into a spot for no reason. I know this letter will probably just be passed off as some grouch letting off steam, I've been around the government departments enough to know nothing will change. But you asked for my review.

The good: This place is beautiful. It’s in the middle of nowhere (no AT&T reception). Quiet & peaceful. Close to the creek/river for trout fishing. The camp host was nice, and greeted us as soon as we got there.
The bad: NO water, and therefore, no toilets. There was one port-a-potty that was over flowing with feces and not usable.
I wouldn’t recommend at this time.

There are limited services here, no electric, no water & sewage at sites, but I like the quiet and being on the creek. There is water available and a dump station and restrooms, no showers.
Update: 4-20-21 there is not water available this early in the season. So bring water. There is no water for the dump station. But you can still use the dump station. The restroom are closed too. But there's a porta-potty. It is actually kinda busy during early trout season

Upon showing up there was a camper on my spot, there was no host to talk to so I approached the camper, he said that it is first come first serve this time of year, he refused to move even after I showed him my reservation. He then pointed to sign that said free camping until Mid April so there was no reason to pay and reserve a sight...he didn’t move and the other campsites that were open were really crappy—we left and went home, very pissed off, A REFUND SHOULD BE IN ORDER ON YOUR END!!!!

We were not able to make it out to the campground due to the snow and weather. However I did drive up for the day to fish and the campground was well kept and looks good.
