What Guests Are Saying

Bussey Point Campground offers a beautiful, relaxing location with clean, mostly level campsites and nice views, making it a popular choice for annual visitors. While some amenities are primitive, such as limited bathrooms and the absence of running water, many campers appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and helpful staff. However, noise from neighbors can be an issue, and improvements are needed for some facilities.

Very beautiful place. Nice sun set and sunrises. Peaceful. I think I was the only camper there that night. No facilities, no water. You have to bring your stuff in yourself. Excellent place.

We arrived on a Monday, and had the entire campground to ourselves for 3 nights. It was quiet and beautiful. the sites were well laid out, with views of the lake, and were well distanced from each other, to allow for some privacy were other people there. We heard coyotes, saw a bald eagle every day, some shore birds and 4 kinds of woodpeckers. There is a long peninsula for hiking, biking or horseback riding. (This seems to be mostly used as a horse back riding campground.) A couple of other campers arrived on Thursday evening, but were a distance from us. It all changed on Friday afternoon when lots of other campers arrived. We expected this; what we didn't expect were the generators that ran continuously - including all night long. Usually campgrounds forbid generators after a certain time - often 10 pm. That doesn't make me happy, since I value the quiet of a campground, but feels reasonable. It also feels reasonable for generator owners to think about the impact they are having on other campers.
The latrines were clean and well maintained, but in loop A it was located at the far end of the line of campsites, so required a good walk from some of them. It is also up a short slope, so might be difficult for some to navigate. The water pump in loop A didn't work, and the one in loop B had somewhat rusty water. We enjoyed our stay and will return - prepared with drinking water, and not on a weekend.
