Campsites overgrown, fallen trees on path to shoreline, general don't care attitude. Corp people on Thurmond Lake say they can't disturb natural growth which really means they're to lazy to do any work. Twin Lakes Campground, also a Corp of Eng. campground on Lake Hartwell do a SUPER job, campgrounds super clean, paths to shoreline clear of fallen trees, and shoreline mowed where possible for an absolutely great place to stay. Restrooms at Twin Lakes, spotless, restrooms at Hawe Creek just barely cleaned if cleaned at all. Would camp all the time at Lake Hartwell but it is too far away, so we tolerate the poor conditions at Hawe Creek.

Hawe Creek is our favorite local campground. Its very quiet with large campsites. I wish it was open year round. We love Hawe Creek!

Hawe creek is by far our favorite campground anywhere! Once we camped there years ago no other place has ever measured up. We love the big sites right on the water complete with big trees for shade. Nice clean bath houses. Well kept grounds. If there is one negative about Hawe Creek it is that it’s not open further into the fall. It always seems that just about the time good camping weather gets here they are closing up. Our family has grown up camping at Hawe Creek and we look forward to many more trips there with our children and now Grandchildren.
