I chose Bear Den Cabins & Camp as a home base to explore the Black Hill’s and would do it again in a heartbeat. Tammy and her husband really care about their guests and wellbeing and offer a lot of nice amenities. Ice. Nice bathrooms. Propane fire pits. Laundry facility. Gas grills. So look no further! It’s a nice thing they have going here!

We had such an amazing stay in the Big Bear cabin! The location is perfect (central to Wind Cave NP, Badlands NP, Custer SP, Black Hills, Mt Rushmore, etc etc). Tammy is such a communicative & friendly host, she checked in with us on travel plans to make sure she met us right when we arrived, gave us a tour of the place, and told us to call if we needed anything (we didn't - everything was perfect already!) As a group of young women traveling across the US, we felt very safe here.

The amenities were great: very clean showers - stocked with soap and shampoo in case you forget yours, laundry, microwave, ice, multiple campfire locations (one in front of our cabin, one on the communal deck) - stocked with s'mores sticks, a grill - stocked with grill materials, and plenty of lawn games. Big bear cabin is perfect for ~4 people, & the cabin was very clean, with comfy beds, multiple fans, a mini fridge, coffee machine, and small table area.

Next time I'm in this part of SD, I'll definitely be back!

We LOVED staying here. It was a perfect balance of camping in nature and having all the conveniences available. We slept in our tents and I even spent a few nights under the stars sleeping in a hammock! Tammy has 2 beautiful covered areas that have Grills and fire pits along with seating. The bathrooms/showers are awesome. I had my Dad and my Aunt with me who are both in their 70’s it was a perfect balance.

Each morning, we woke to deer and wild turkeys on the grounds., sounds of the birds singing. It was absolutely beautiful. If I’m going anywhere near South Dakota I will be staying here again.

In addition to the covered areas, she has a washer and dryer available for use, as well as an ice machine. She bags ice up so you can top off your coolers. A sink, microwave and Keurig machine. Tammy and her husband were awesome hosts. I would HIGHLY recommended staying here.

The area where they live is just gorgeous. We really could not have found a better place to camp. We got to have s’mores in the evening and just stargaze. It was peaceful and close to so many of the things we wanted to do while we were there. We saw Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial and more.

Tammy went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable and we felt at home! This campground has some of the nicest and cleanest bathrooms that I have ever seen, and plenty of amenities to mingle with fellow campers. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the cozy feels of this lovely campground!

My family and i rented two tent spots. This place is amazing!!! Tammy is a great host! My daughter and her family had stayed in 2914, and she remembered them. My grandson loves the play area. Beautiful location. And the bathroom shower areas, perfection. I may drive from Texas to South Dakota again just to stay here!
