The Badlands visitor center was fun. The movie that introduces the national park was engaging for all my kids. The weather in the park the day we were there was volatile at night and did break a part of our tent. I would encourage people who will be tent camping to make sure they have a tent that is built for strong winds or be ready to sleep in your car if the winds get a bit crazy. The bathrooms were clean and water was easily accessible. We did the large loop scenic drive while we were there and enjoyed seeing prairie dogs and burrowing owls, along with bison and antelope. There are many places to stop and do short hikes or engage with park rangers. The scenery is unique and beautiful.

RV parking is in the street, which limits room for driving through the campsite. Tent camping at our site (88) was challenging because of the lack of flat ground. The restrooms/showers were clean and functional. The view was great and the campground is close to the Visitor Center and Lodge.

Not much of a surprise, but there was no shade at all at the campsite aside from a partially shaded wooden cover that wraps over the picnic tables. The ground was quite tough and hard to set up my tent on. None of the nearby water pumps worked while I was there, so my only source of water was from the bathroom :(
