We had such a wonderful experience at Lock A. Check-in was extrememly smooth and Pam was so welcoming! We stayed at lot #7 and it was level, shaded, and easy to get in to. The grounds were so well kept, the bathrooms and showers were so clean and well stocked, and there were so many amenities! I think the concrete checker/chess tables are the cutest addition! We visited Mudcats Tiki Bar up the hill and enjoyed a great live band and some really good burgers. We will definitely be staying here many more times!

There is a rather steep grade from the main road at the top of the hill into the campground, but the sites are level with the river. The road is narrow at times, just take it slow and the reward is a great little camp. We had site #34, backs up to river, asphalt drive, fine gravel pad, & patio, 50-amp & water hookup, picnic table grill & fire ring. Also, a large tree at the back of the pad & nice glider swing overlooking the river. Campgrounds are well kept, with a covered trash can at each site. Inner roads are easy to maneuver; camp host was responsive and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this site. It was one of those campsites where you pull in, get set up, and immediately think, “Yep, this is why we go camping.” The site was perfectly level, backing in was a breeze, and the scenic view of the river was hard to beat. Sitting outside and watching the water made this a spot where you could truly slow down and enjoy being outdoors.
The river access was a big bonus. Being able to launch our kayaks right from the area made getting out on the water simple and convenient. For anyone who enjoys paddling, this site is a great choice.
The little things were well taken care of too. The provided trash can at the site was emptied every morning, which was a small convenience that made a big difference. The bathrooms were what you would expect from a Corps of Engineers campground—nothing fancy, but they were very clean and well maintained.
Another pleasant surprise was the connectivity. We had good cell data service and reliable over-the-air TV reception, which is not always something you can count on while camping. It was nice to enjoy the peaceful campground atmosphere while still being able to stay connected when needed.
The only disappointment was that the bike trail behind the park was closed. A bridge was washed out last year and still has not been repaired. It would have been a great addition to the stay, but that’s not something the campground can control.
Overall, this is a fantastic campsite with a beautiful river view, easy setup, excellent kayak access, and a well-maintained campground. The quiet evenings, clean facilities, and thoughtful site maintenance made this a place we really enjoyed.
We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful park along the Cumberland River! Large, level site. We were on site 18. It was fun to see the barges go up and down the river. The road into the park is a bit scary. Very narrow and curvy. We were in a class A motorhome towing a car.
