I had a very good experience at Chilhowee campground. I stayed for two nights in an RV/tentsite without electricity. The site was clean and the bathrooms were very clean! Every day the bathrooms were cleaned. I was very pleased with this campground and will be staying there in the future.

Been coming here since I was a kid! The grounds and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Hike to the waterfall was a bit hard with a jogging stroller due to some of it being washed out. But overall pretty good. Will definitely be back

The site (b-19) I stayed at was in poor condition. The electric outlets weren't in working condition and the firepit grill for this site rusted off so bring your own grill grate for cooking if needed. It was the first of the season so hopefully everything is fixed but sadly the president has cut funding.

I was very pleased with our site at Chilhowee campground. Plenty of space to move around and it actually had great cell phone coverage up there. The road going up to the campground is also much nicer now since they repaved it.

This is a great park and campground. We have been going here for the past 8 summers, multiple times per season. We have stayed at different sites, but our favorite is B-24. Can't say enough good things about the camp host Mike, great guy always willing to help campers out any way he can. The pond/lake has a beach for swimming, and although I have been told there are fish to be caught in it, I have never seen anyone actually catching any. Best to go down to the Ocoee river for fishing. As far as rafting, there are many companies in the area that offer guided tours on the Ocoee river. (whitewater)
Now that that is all said, a warning, the campground is 7 miles up the side of a mountain, it's a long pull on a 2 lane twisty road.

The area itself is beautiful. The campground is dated and in disrepair. It looks tired and worn out.

The campground and camping sites were well maintained and clean. The bathhouse was cleaned daily and it was an excellent experience to have. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Chilhowee Campground! The place was beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained — the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Even the Bathrooms were amazing, so clean!!!!!
What really made the trip special was the camp host, Sherry. She was so kind, caring, and genuinely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, she made sure we felt welcome and taken care of. She went over and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. You can tell she truly loves what she does and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great stay.
I can’t recommend this campground enough — beautiful setting, great facilities, and an incredible host. Thank you, Sherry, for making my visit such a memorable one! 🌲🏕️❤️

The campground is located on FDR 77/Oswald Dome Road.
Be Aware; Do not use GPS directions: GPS coordinates will direct you up Benton Springs Rd. This route is not recommended. We recommend using Forest Service Road 77 to reach the recreation area. It's important to note, this facility requires driving 7 miles up to Chilhowee Campground on a narrow, winding road. Do not use the Benton Springs Access Road to the campground as this is an unpaved and dangerous road for RVs. Inexperienced RV drivers may have difficulties getting to and around the site.
From Highway 64/411 intersection travel east 7 miles, turn onto Forest Road 77, drive 7.5 miles to campground/recreation area. Do not use Benton Springs Road for access to the mountain.
Chilhowee Campground is accessible via Highway 64/411, located approximately 7 miles from the campground. From the highway, travelers should turn onto Forest Road 77 to reach the campground.

Policies & Rules
General
- Be Aware! Do not use GPS directions - GPS coordinates will direct you up Benton Springs Rd. This route is not recommended. We recommend using Forest Service Road 77 to reach the recreation area. - The campground is located on FDR 77/Oswald Dome Road.
- Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings only.
- Do not leave fires unattended. They will be extinguished.
- Discharging firearms and fireworks is prohibited.
- Pets must be on a leash and are not allowed on the beach.
- No lifeguards on duty; swim at your own risk.
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
- The nearest restaurants and/or stores for purchasing supplies are about 14 miles from the campground.
- Campground hosts are on site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Be Bear Wise: Never leave food out on tables or in the open. Store unattended food in bear-resistant containers, in a vehicle in solid non-pliable material, or suspend food at least ten feet off the ground. Remember to use the bear resistant trash receptacles provided at this facility.
