About Defeated Creek Park

Defeated Creek Park Campground sits along the banks of Cordell Hull Lake on the Cumberland River System, just seven miles from Carthage, Tennessee. The lake was named after Cordell Hull, a politician that was born in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. Beautiful park. Well kept. Only problem was finding it from I-40 and then returning to I-40 on eastern route. State maps and GPS not very helpful. You really should have a good county map. Hushed we could have stayed longer. 5 stars.

Other than a tornado warning and evacuating to bathhouse, it was great. Desperately need additional laundry facilities. One washer and one dryer for the entire campground is insufficient. Stronger wi-fi would be wonderful.

We love the spaciousness and peacefulness at Defeated Creek Park. Lake views are great and plenty of shade. Campsites mostly level and well maintained but mostly gravel. Bathhouses are very rustic but clean and operational. Lots of paved roads for bike riding or walking.
