About Defeated Creek Park

Defeated Creek Park Campground sits along the banks of Cordell Hull Lake on the Cumberland River System, just seven miles from Carthage, Tennessee. The lake was named after Cordell Hull, a politician that was born in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. Beautiful well groomed campgrounds, loved seeing deer grazing in the open. Numerous water sites. Bathrooms need to be updated.

As always a great experience. Clean very well maintained, camp host friendly and helpful. The single drawback is there is no way to rinse black tank.

The place is very nice but the shower is not very clean, not enough cloth hook in the shower, the water is hot in the shower.

There are things that need done around the campground . Graveling campsites that need gravel . Fixing pot holes and bad places in the road around the campground . Putting a new and updated water hose at the dump station . My wife asks why they will not fix such thins . I tell her that they do not have to . The campground stays full at the right times so no need to fix things if they do not want to .

Our camping times at Defeated are always 5 Star!!! Our site this time was 117. We love this site even though it has no sewer. In past visits, the picnic table had gotten in very poor condition. This season there’s new tables and they’re wonderful!!! Thank you COE!!! We will see you again in July…site 39!!!
