About Defeated Creek Park

Defeated Creek Park Campground sits along the banks of Cordell Hull Lake on the Cumberland River System, just seven miles from Carthage, Tennessee. The lake was named after Cordell Hull, a politician that was born in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. When you take the trail to the top of the hill, pay close attention to the sign that says easy trail and hard trail. It means it. Park is well maintained campsites are great. The ones in the lake have a wonderful view. People in the booth were the most friendly.

I prefer sites more spaced out. I had a bad electric outlet and it wasn’t replaced until the next day when I reported it again. Park was clean, had more than one dumpster around the park, reasonably priced and easy access from site to lake. Also don’t take your golf cart unless it is street legal. This is just not my favorite campground.

The entire campground is so clean and spacious. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The sites are nicely spaced and so many are at the water’s edge. The entry is staffed and gated. We were in site 6, very level, water view, close to the playground and off the main road. No septic at site 6, but many do have it. It’s a must stay!

Love the campground however the last camp site had no WiFi or phone service. Many of the campsites don’t have internet access.
