What Guests Are Saying
Cosby Campground is praised for its beautiful natural surroundings, clean facilities, and helpful staff, making it a favorite for many campers. The campground offers well-marked trails and peaceful camping experiences, although some visitors noted the lack of phone signal and absence of showers. While certain loops are closed, campers appreciate the spacious sites and overall maintenance of the grounds, often returning for the serene atmosphere and hiking opportunities.

Most of the park is closed and what is open is very poorly maintained. The last time that we visited this park several years ago it was well maintained. The place needs to be cleaned up and revived. It is sad to see such a beautiful place looking abandoned.

Hot, Humid, rainy, then nice. You have to love weather in the Smokies. I love Cosby CG. Super quiet mid week. This site it nice. Only thing is you are among the few RV site in the CG. One RV, two doors down, got there and ran their generator from dawn to dusk for days. Never saw them. Only heard. Really wish the park would ban those. Good thing is the newer ones are super quiet. half the noise of these older ones.

Ideal base camp to launch day hikes. The campground host and the ranger were very helpful with bear proofing my campsite.

We absolutely love this campground! It's quiet, serene, and beautiful! An enjoyable campground with a lot of trails to explore. The wildlife is very active in this area, as turkeys pass through with no concern for the humans present. :-)

Although we tried to make a reservation online it didn't work. Once we arrived at the registration bldg. a wonderful ranger helped with not only making the last minute registration but also suggested the "best" site for our van. Not many people camping but a very quiet campground and although no showers are in the toilet building the whole area around the building and in the building was clean and neat. All the sites were clean and neat. A very pleasant stay and would recommend to anyone who is visiting the Smoky Mountains stay and you will be glad you did.

Campground is mostly tent sites but there are a few sites for smaller RVs. Bathrooms were clean and camp host was visible and available. There is not much around Cosby but they do have a Dollar General. Trish's Mountain Diner is 16 minutes away and a very good place for breakfast. Sutton Ridge Overlook was a nice hike but not a spectacular overlook - maybe it's better in the Fall. There is a list of easy, moderate, and strenuous hikes on the picnic table at the check-in station. You can drive up TN Hwy 32 to the North Carolina border and the Big Creek area for some more good hiking trails and fishing. From there you can quickly get on I-40 and return to Cosby on the Foothills Parkway.

Poorly maintained other than the bathrooms and they were surprisingly very nice. No showers, no potable water spigot for filling jugs or a camper’s tank, no electricity. All of that is fine with me but it’s $30 a night and that’s way too much for a place that’s not well maintained. They won’t let you use an outdoor portable shower even with eco friendly biodegradable soap.
