The campsite was great. The area was clean, as well as somebody left some wood to burn as well. The only thing is, I wish there could be all new bathrooms and bathhouses. I have been camping at Salt Lick for a lot of years, over ten. Is there anyway to make this possible? One would think as many as people camp there, enough money is being made to do this. What would it take to get this done? Also more wifi. Other than that, this is my number one place to camp. Thank you to the check in people that are nice. Plus all that is done for the kids, to be involved with activities. I feel like the whole campground is a safe place for kids to ride bikes or walk, don’t have to be afraid. By all means, always keep a watch over any child, not just your own. Always keep Salt Lick around. Thank you. VB

We really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and all the wildlife. We were comfortable enough to allow our Granddaughter to ride her bicycle around the loop while there. This will be on our list of favorites and we’ll be back. 😊

Excellent campground! Salt Lick Creek.Campground is clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained. The campsites are spacious, the lake views are amazing, and the staff does a great job keeping everything in excellent condition. It's the perfect place to relax, fish, boat, or just enjoy nature. Awesome to disconnect. No cell phone service. They do have wifi at the bath houses, for those who need to check in family memebers. Lots of deer and turkeys. Had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Nearby Defeated Creek gets more love, but having stayed at both for two weeks, we enjoyed Salt Lick the most. It’s not as crowded and the campground is gorgeous, especially on Lakeside and Sugar Tree Loops. Maples planted in the mid 70’s when the park was built have matured, giving the campground a lovely park like setting. There are lots of open spaces with deer and turkey frequently feeding there. In the Lakeside Loop, sewer sites begin at 11 and run through 23 (the campground map shows 10 as sewer; it’s not). Sites along the lake are closer together but not right on top of one another. We were in site 10, and the spacing between sites was very generous. We didn’t like the Woodland Loop as these sites were in the hilly section of the campground, buried in deep tree cover. It’s a 30 minute drive to Gainesboro where you can find a DG Market and Sav-a-Lot for supplies. A bonus: free laundry with two sets of washers & dryers. And, judging from the number of people on their phones, WiFi appears to be available at each bathhouse. We absolutely no cell service with Verizon, but our Starlink worked well at our site.

We have been camping there for years. This was the first time the water was so nasty you couldn’t enjoy it. Also the bugs were so bad they could carry you away. We left a couple days early.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
