Elkmont Campground

Elkmont is truly a magical place!
I camp yearly up there and it's entirely worth the drive (the drive up there being beautiful in and of itself).

The campground is immaculate(Thanks Rangers!).
There's nowhere else I've been where a river is running less than 20' from your tent.
It's the very definition of peaceful!

Let's get real. It's time that this park has power to to the RV sites. AT THE LEAST the "Generator" sites which allow generator use between 8a and 8p. If the campers are out all day enjoying the park, and/or the Dollywood tourism area, they will not be in camp to run generators during the designated hours. Step up to the plate and electrify. Stop the noisy and noxious generators.

This is a great campground. If they ever were to install electricity and water at the sites, you would never be able to make a reservation.

I took my wife here knowing it was her first time camping really and we both loved it. Very well maintained and love being by the river.

We only stayed for a couple of nights, but had a great time! The location was perfect. Everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful.

Beautiful campground!

Elkmont is my very favorite campground in the Smokies!! The staff is warm and welcoming, the restrooms are clean and the sites are large and spacious. By accident I booked the wrong site and was not on the river but the site was still wonderful! Very large, D07.
Only comment is the parking for 2 vehicles was tight. We have a teardrop (T@b 320) and still had to park the 2nd car on the side of the asphalt pad.

The check-in to the campground is very simple and the rangers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive. My campsite itself was exactly as advertised: a tent pad, fire ring, and paved driveway. The sites themselves at Elkmont are spread out enough to give some privacy. I was fortunate to have booked a site along the river and it was lovely and peaceful. Keep in mind that the campground is very primitive: there are no showers, no electric hookups, and no playgrounds or recreational facilities- it is strictly for campers to enjoy its lovely outdoors. Also keep in mind that you can reserve a campsite only through recreation.gov; you can no longer show up without a reservation and garner a campsite that is not reserved. It does have a little store onsite that is open from 10-5 each day and it carries just about everything you would need for any camping needs. The back of the site has Daisy Town, a collection of old houses once used by the now defunct Appalachian club. The houses have been restored and while they are not used for accommodations, you are allowed to walk in them and explore them at your leisure. There is literature available at the ranger station that tells you everything you could possibly want to know about the Appalachian Club and Daisy Town. As a final note, the campers have always consistently had a venerable respect for this campground; there is no loud music nor late night partying. I highly recommend Elkmont for camping.

This campground has become one of our favorites, this is year 3 for us camping here in the fall. This site was fairly private with a small stream during the rain. The parking spot is a bit worn but it can handle larger campers. Our 20 ft camper and F150 fit great.

Great site next to small stream. Rained one night, but there was good drainage. Had a great time.
