About Paint Creek Campground

Paint Creek Recreation Area (elevation 1760 feet) is located in Greene County in a mountain cove along Paint Creek. A majority of the widely-spaced campsites have streamside views and are screened by a variety of native plants, including rhododendron, hemlock and laurel. Be Bear Wise: Food storage compliance is strictly enforced. Store all food and trash in hard-sided containers and vehicles while not in use. Never have attractants in your tent. Violations of the food storage order are ticketable offenses and subject to fines. Food and trash left unattended will be impounded by campground staff.

First of all, Bill is a great host and cares about the people staying at the campground. This is the first time I have had a host come around to talk to everyone making everyone was good and did not need anything. We loved campsite 13 because it was right on the water. Although there storms and caused serious flooding it was still a nice place. Bill made sure he kept everyone informed of weather and flooding conditions. We hope to see Bill on our next stay as long as they open the road up after repairs, if they make the repairs.

Nice secluded campground with sites right on the river. Accessible via a short drive through some narrow mountain roads after a longer drive through more open country. Perfect getaway spot. Vault toilets were kept clean and each site was quite large.

The price is great vs experience. Great campground host. I only wish they would add a dumpstation.
