What Guests Are Saying
Rock Creek Recreation Area is highly praised for its peaceful and spacious campsites, excellent amenities like electricity, and access to beautiful hiking and biking trails. Many visitors enjoyed the clean facilities, friendly campground hosts, and the scenic wooded surroundings. While some noted minor issues such as limited water flow at spigots and lack of phone service, these were overshadowed by the overall positive experiences and the intention to return.

Be sure to fill your fresh water tanks before parking or bring at least 200 ft of hose. The water facets are pretty far from most sites. Be sure to follow the maximum length posted on the site. The site themselves are big enough but backing in can be tricky. I have a 38 ft Class A and put it in a 36 ft spot but it was a trick getting in and out.
Loved the park itself, what a beautiful place. We will return in the future.

Wonderful time! Stayed 9 days in August. We have a 27 Ft. 5th Wheel w/ two slides. Combination of RV's and Tent Camping sites. Large sites with electric. No sewer and shared water spigots scattered thru out. Dump station is available with easy access. Very helpful Camp Host on site, rangers patrolling regularly. Did not use shower house/bathroom facilities. Community swimming pond for kids to wade. Picnic areas playground hiking trails for day use and separate from camping area. Entrance to park through residential area but don't let that put you off. Once you are in the park feels very outdoors. The greenery is lush this time of year, cooler due to lots of flora a fauna, big oak trees very shaded. Stream is easy walk and hiking/biking trails for the more adventurous. Town of Erwin 4 miles away has grocery store and fast food. Walmart 6 miles away. For serious shopping and chain restaurants Johnson City is 25 minutes away. Recommended sight seeing/day trips, Davy Crocket Birthplace, Sycamore Shoals Fort and Tipton Haynes House.
