What Guests Are Saying
Blue Heron Campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers clean facilities, making it a favorite for many visitors. The proximity to hiking trails, especially the Blue Heron Loop, adds to its appeal. While some campers noted noise from nearby children and the absence of a campground host, the overall atmosphere is friendly and the campground provides a great outdoor experience.

We spent two nights at campsite #30 in mid October. Overall the visit was quite pleasant. The campsites are clean and well maintained. Each campsite has a fire ring with adjustable grill, water, 30 amp electricity and a picnic table. The bathroom and shower facility was exceptionally clean and had plenty of hot water for showering as well as hot water, soap, and paper towels at the sinks, unusual in my experience. There are hiking trails with beautiful vistas of the Big South Fork nearby and an interesting outdoor museum documenting early logging and mining activity in the area. The only negative I have is the asphalt parking ramp for our site was relatively short and steeply inclined fore and aft and mildly so sideways making it difficult to impossible to level our truck camper. I set up the camper on the level gravel area to the side and was later told this was not permitted, that that area was only for tent campers, a real hassle.

Just a half mile walk to a trailhead linking to Blue Heron Loop trail. Or you can drive to a trailhead. Nice facilities for those tenting or preferring to use them. A bike repair station is even provided. Overall a very nice camping experience!

I enjoyed Blue Heron. Very quiet and dark. It’s small but close to trails. Host is very nice.

Really enjoyed our time at Blue Heron, the site was clean and well maintained. The bathhouse was always clean ,the park was quiet and secluded. The only downside I had was the WiFi didn’t extend to our site,I think sites 1-5 are just a little to far away. I’d go back in a heartbeat though!

Wonderful campground. Bathhouse clean, little outdated, but definitely usable. Outside dishwashing area.
Loved our site, very level and private. Easy walking to trails. Will definitely be back.

Nice camp site spacing and clean restrooms.
Need to post instructions or what camp sites are available.
We arrived with no reservations since most of the park area has no WFI
and/or we want to be spontaneous on
Our day.
There are plastic signs on most or all
Campsites that say reserved...I think maybe the intention may be to use plastic marker to write your departure date once you arrive. We arrived in daylight and ask another visitor how to
Make a reservation so found a site...
Will definitely come back. Thank you.

We love Camping at Blue Heron . People making reservations should have a way to show they are cancelling . We moved out of three camp sites because of reservations . And they never showed up . Heavy reservation s caused us to move to available sites .

The campground is small, but set up well. There is a wonderful loop at the end of the campground road, and it is within close driving distance of several other hiking trails.

Beautiful area, tons of excellent sightseeing and hiking opportunities. The campground itself is however extremely cramped. Our tent pad area literally shared a border with our neighbors. Unfortunately that appeared to be the norm for many of the sites at this campground. There were only a couple that had even the slightest privacy. If you are expecting quiet and solitude this is not the place to camp. It's not a KOA, but there simply isn't much room. Facilities were adequate if not exceptional and the sites were mostly level.
