First time at IBC and it was, with a couple of exceptions, a wonderful experience. We stayed on the A loop, site 22. The site was perfect for our 13’ camper trailer.
We loved the location, and during the last week of Oct, the foliage was still very good, even if we missed the peak by a few days. We hiked the lake trail twice in two days — great fun for us and our two small pups. The lake was also a good spot for star gazing for a couple nights. I got a couple decent Milky Way shots although it was too late in the year to capture the galactic center. The Cherokee Nat’l Forest is recognized as a dark sky location in TN.
The first issue we noticed was the closed water spigot between 21 & 22, as was at least one other spigot. We walked to across 15 for water, which was not a terrible inconvenience, but . . .continuing with water problems, both sinks in the men’s and the women’s A loop bathrooms were missing faucet aerators. Consequently, water sprayed all over the counters and the mirrors, and anyone using the faucets! In talking to a guy who has been coming to IB 1-3 times a year for many years, he said the two water problems I just mentioned have been that way for a number of years. Sad.

Well maintained campground in a beautiful setting. The bathhouse for loop c was constantly wet and cool due to condensation. The area we were in was experiencing something like a temperature inversion as smoke from campfires hugged the ground and made breathing uncomfortable.

Great campsite! I had plenty of room to for my tent, canopy, hammock stand; there was plenty of space for my truck not to be near the fire ring even with all that equipment. Conveniently located not too far from the bathhouse; paths to the picnic area, lake trail, beach and pier were also nearby. A water spigot is right across the campsite. It only has partial tree cover during the day and is more open that some of the other sites around it. I would definitely stay at this spot again if I can snag it. I had to leave a day early because of the threat of thunderstorms, but it was still a great trip.

Several Water spickets were broken. Leak in water line caused low volume in rest rooms.
