About Temples Lake

Temples Lake Park is a day-use facility with over 60 picnic sites and one reservable group area on the southern shore of Belton Lake. The lake provides some of the best fishing and boating in Central Texas and the park offers amenities for large groups of up to 80 people, such as flush toilets, showers, a playground, a swim beach and two two-lane boat ramps. Belton Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Belton Dam in 1954. The 12,300-acre lake is located on the Leon River, just upstream of the confluence of the Leon River and the Little River.

What Guests Are Saying

The gate attendant provided friendly service, and the park was clean and well-maintained, contributing to an enjoyable experience. A suggestion was made to add a sign for reserved parking to improve accessibility. Overall, visitors had a great day at Temples Lake.

The gate attendant was very nice. My only suggestion is to put up a sign on or near the gate when it's reserved because all the bank fishermen and folks hangout took up the majority of our parties parking

Everything was as pictured. Very big and nice pavilion.

However, the experience we had with the attendant was terrible. I made the reservation weeks in advance. The day of there was no one at the park gate to unlock the gate for the pavilion. We drove around and called the number listed on the sign but was unable to get ahold of anyone. We parked elsewhere and walked our belongings over to set up our bbq.

Finally after being there almost an hour someone showed up. Immediately the first sentence out of his mouth is “You need to leave!” We were taken aback by the rude attitude and demeanor of the man. He could’ve approached and asked calmly do you have a reservation but instead came in hot. My spouse told him we have a reservation it’s on my phone and the guy yelled “No you don’t!” And threatened to call the ranger. After back and forth between him and my spouse, he finally let me show him my reservation on the phone. He was able to locate my reservation but never apologized or anything and did not even speak a word to myself about his mistake. He proceeded to open the gate and leave.

I understand he has a job to do but my god completely unnecessary for someone to act that way!

The pavilion is the only large pavilion on the lake. I paid my fee and booked it well in advance. The day of the event, I had to wait for another party to be removed from the pavilion that I paid for. I believe the park allowed the unauthorized use. They should have ensured the party using the pavilion was the party that paid for the pavilion
