About Rio Grande Village (Big Bend, TX)

The Rio Grande Village Campground sits near the banks of the Rio Grande, the International Boundary between the United States and Mexico. It is one of the most popular campgrounds in Big Bend National Park, especially for those traveling in large recreational vehicles. It is located close to Boquillas Canyon and Hot Springs, and serves as a launch point for visitors accessing the river or the endless miles of backcountry roads. All the details on the booking website were described accurately, payment was easy, and we had no problems using the camping sites. The restrooms, camping sites, and storage containers were clean and ready. The recycle bins are a very nice and long-awaited addition - Thank you! For future campers, we recommend booking several different campsites to explore the park better. We did book two: Cottonwood and Rio Grande Village. Chisos camping was all booked. Later, we went hiking and saw "reserved" for the entire week with no signs of campers - it was sad. We suggest installing a deposit fee system, preventing people from reserving the camping sites and not using them without any consequences. Big Bend is real and beautiful, thanks for keeping it that way.

This was out first trip to big bend, we had excellent and pleasant camping at Rio Grande Village, restrooms were very clean, campsites were well maintained and clean.

Big Bend is really underrated park, we did few hikes (Santa Elena canyon, Boquillas Canyon, Window View Trail, Lost Mine trial, Hot springs) each of place are unique and exciting...

The National Park Staff was helpful and enjoyable to speak with. The volunteers had great insight on hikes and such.

The concessions staff was grumpy and seemed put out when you asked them a camping question. Most campers do not initially realize that there is the NP staff and the concession staff. The concession staff should be more professional when directing campers to the NP staff.

Cars coming, going and circulating all hours of the night. Can’t hang outside for 30 seconds without being blinded by headlights. Multiple campsites with loud noises and bright lights. Camp host does nothing there. Main bathroom building was closed off during busiest week of the year. One of the worst campsite experiences.

It is a very nice setup for the rv park. We missed a good internet, but it was not a must have. A very picturesque location had many things to offer. Walking trails, a short drive to the canyon, and endless opportunities to make memorable pictures.
