Very quaint and quiet camp ground. It does need some tlc both in the campsite and in pond.

We stayed spot 36, it has almost no shade and is extremely unlevel and hard to park in because of hanging limbs. The reservation system is difficult to work with.

Campsite was beautiful, clean and mostly empty. Camp host met at site and provided trail map. Camp host also made introductions to other campers. Most of camp and trails under deep shade.

Love that’s it’s not crowded and sites are not on top of each other. The walk around the lake is always nice. Several deer were in the lake. Almost stepped on a copperhead two nights in a row. One on the lakeside trail and one in the road walking to take a shower.

From New Waverly, Texas, go 22 mi east on Highway 150 to FM 2025. Turn and drive south 0.3 mi to the campground.

Double Lake Recreation Area is accessible via Highway 150, which is approximately 22 miles west of New Waverly, Texas.
Policies & Rules
General
- PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE FLUSHABLE WIPES INTO CAMPGROUND WASTEWATER SYSTEM. THESE PRODUCTS CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOCKAGE ISSUES AND ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OUR WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM.
- Two vehicles included with each standard site fee; Four vehicles included with group site fee; extra vehicles charged $9 per night on-site
- Only two tents and up to eight people are allowed at a single occupancy campsite
- No access for newly arriving campers.
- Fire permitted in fire rings only
- Street Legal Vehicles Only
- No alcohol.
- Day use fee of $7 per vehicle per day; annual pass $30 per vehicle; walk-in or bicycle $1 per person per day; dump station use $5 per use
- Site must be occupied in the first 24 hours of reservations
