What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Such a beautiful place. Campsites have trees between themwhich create privacy. The lake is wonderful for fishing, and the swimming hole is great fun for the kids when it’s open. Hiking around the lake is lovely, and riding mountain bikes on the bike trail is always a hit.

We had a good time but they should spend money on the upkeep on the lake it looks terrible and abandoned.

When I was young I came to this park as a Boy Scout. Then my father and I would come camp here, and countless day trips to fish the lake. So I wanted to bring my kids to experience this park. The campsites are just as I remembered, big and quiet. Perfect tent sites. But. The restroom that was closest to our site was closed. It’s been closed for sometime now. Not a deal breaker. But. The lake itself was horrible. Couldn’t fish because it’s all grown up with weeds. The only open water was out in the middle and inaccessible. Also we couldn’t swim. The water had bacteria and leaches. Totally a let down. When the lake is the star of the show and you can’t do anything with it it’s just a sad sad thing they let this lake get to this condition. And not receiving money to do anything about it. Just sad. Very sad.
