What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

The 50 amp did not work at our campsite. so we had to convert our camper to a 30. so we couldn't run the ac the same time as the coffee pot. But I did have a nice stay, I enjoyed everything from hiking, swimming, and seeing wild animals.

Seems the gov't is letting the park go. The walking path around the lake is in very poor condition. The hot water is cut off to all bath houses and is very hard on older people, Roads have many potholes and edges are sloughing off.
This park used to be very family oriented and a gem in the woods. When you go now, you get the feeling it is about to be abandoned by the Park System. It is a very nice area and it would be a shame to lose it

Campers adjacent drove vehicles repeatedly around campground loop between 11pm-1am wth much slamming of car doors. Bright lights at adjacent camp sites and loud talking of passers by headed to the bathroom at all hours of the day and night pretty much negated any nature experience. I will never use a camp site with electrical hookups again.
