What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Don't use the online reservation, call the park directly. Don't expect to see an actual park ranger, the place is run by park hosts. The park hosts are great. No actual dump stations. Camping was pleasant, enjoyed the scenery.

We loved our trip to Double Lake. It is a beautiful campground and the spots are clean, spaced out, and relaxing. The only negative was that the camp host could not see our reservation in his system (even though it was confirmed and paid for on the recreation.gov website) and he gave us a really hard time for it. We paid and we had our confirmation and payment receipt. Not sure how else to go about proving that we weren’t “squatting illegally.”

Wonderfully private sites set back in the forest and along the Double Lake. Bathrooms are clean and nice. Fabulous mountain biking trails. Had a blast!

A little over an hours drive from Houston. The leaves on the trees are still brown from the freeze. Would like to come back later in the spring. Tried fishing, no luck, as other guest. The park is keep clean, the staff are friendly and helpful.

The sites were large and clean. The park is very nice. The bathrooms are seriously lacking, small, not real clean and not adequate.
