What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Great place to stay! We loved that the campsites are large and mostly private. Unfortunately, the bathrooms right across from our site were out of order but it wasn’t a long trek to get to the next ones. Wish quiet hours were enforced as we listened to people have loud fun until the wee hours of the morning. We ran out of firewood but our camp hosts were great. Glad we could buy some from them for $5 a bundle. There aren’t really any hiking trails. They have some good trails for biking but the only places to walk are the campsite loops and a loop around the lake which is poorly maintained (mostly paved but incredibly uneven due to uprooted trees and old age). Over all, we had a great time and will definitely return.

I'd like to start with my experence on the Recreation.gov website. It is not really user friendly. Like, what is the difference between Standard Electric and RV Electric? I called the phone number for someone at the Campground and left a message. Craig called me back and told me what I needed to know to make an accurate reservation. Once there, we enjoyed ourselves. We don't require a lot of activities or entertainment, so quiet was perfect for us. There is a nice walk around the lake, fishing, and hiking/biking trails. I was surprised at the lack of cleared space around each campsite. We were scoping it our for a family campout later in the year. Our family of 12 needs space for 2 RV's and 3 tents and then space to set up corn hole or other outdoor games . The double campsites were intriging but there were not enough flat places for 3 tents and there was not enough space for playing games. I took pictures of all the campsite that were full hookup, but I can't see how to upload them. I'll keep trying.

Campground was great. Quiet fairly secluded site easy hook up. somewhat sloped. Chilly night. Bathhouses were clean but in need of some repair and rather cold. Nice quiet stay, would like to have been able to stay longer.
