What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Double Lake is one of our favorite camping spots. The campsites are fairly secluded compared to 80% of the other campsites that we've stayed. The camp Hosts, Craig and Cindy are awesome and always available to help us find an open site to fit our needs. There's also many hiking and biking trails. There are also a few Geocaches to look for in the vicinity.

The hosts here are second to none. We come to this campground often during the season and love every second of it. They are always keeping the place clean. They always remember us, too! They are always ready to.answer questions and help where they can. The campground is well appointed with clean water, clean sites, and lots to do for young and old alike.

Nice camping site. Very good facilities for restroom and showers. Hot showers available. The groups campsites around the lake are beautiful. Bring your own firewood. The one sold at the campsite is not very good.

Site parking drives are in terrible shape. Our parking pad was not drivable and dangerous for walking and unloading.
Park should not allow long term hosts and the encampment and complacency that ensues.

This is the cleanest, well maintained state park I have ever seen...The staff was very very helpful, kind and went above and beyond to help us. Highly recommended.
