We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended twice and stayed the maximum 14 days. This is a beautiful campground. The sites are spacious with shelters over the picnic tables. We didn’t feel crowded at all. It was pretty empty until the Easter weekend, when it really filled up. But even then it wasn’t terribly loud. There are two dumping stations, which were helpful. We ride our bikes over the dam and explored the area near Flatrock Campground, which was closed. We saw lots and lots of deer every evening. I was glad to see that they are indeed wary of humans, and was disappointed to see several campers putting out food for them. The wildflowers were just coming into full bloom. We enjoyed spectacular sunsets from our site as well as from the dam. We appreciated the help we got from some of the men who were working on a project. We needed a wrench to get the light in my husband’s bike secured. They took him to a work area and got him a wrench the right size. So nice. If I could change anything, it would be that all of the bathhouses would be open. We stopped at one and the only thing open for women was the showers. At the one closest to where we were, there were no locks for the showers. That can be uncomfortable. But all were well stocked and cleaned often. It was pretty relaxing and we didn’t even fish!

The staff was very friendly. When the gate was damaged they repair was done the next day with no interference with daily life. The area was well maintained and the power never went out.
