As a parent of two younger kids we were underwhelmed. We do not particularly care for touristy locations but this was just too bare. No playground, which was confusing as there were some bits of info that claimed there is one. EVERYTHING is dry, crispy, and brown. This is of course the unfortunate outcome of environmental severe weather and drout. The wind and threat of wildfires made being outdoors unbearable. The women's bathroom was in disrepair and the showers terrible trying to get the sensors to work properly. As a mom you cannot shower with your child in one and you in the other. The water will not run simultaneously in both units. Showering together worked but the sensors were horrible. Unhappy kids and mom. We never found the dump station. It was a nice central location to visit San Angelo and Abelene.

We camp at Hords Creek Lakeside on a regular basis. The campground is well maintained and the hosts have always been friendly and helpful. We ride our e-bikes around the park and watch the wildlife.

Although most left due to weather, I stayed and enjoyed my time. Would have like to kayak, but lake was low and winds were high.

Very well designed, very peaceful and great areas to walk in. Cleaning services need to be on their toes with toilet paper replacement.
Very helpful gate attendants.
