We had the site closest to the bathroom. Bathroom is of course super smelly but you don't smell it at the site. This is really a decent fishing spot. You climb down a steep hill to get to the water. There are vehicles coming and going all night for what I assume is night fishing. I hope anyway. I wish they would have done a better job mowing, especially weed eating around the fire pit. If you want to swim or put a boat or canoe in, you'll want to go directly across from this site to the water on the other side. I don't like that anyone can come into the camp site and that it was kind of a busy road next to us. Although the park rangers drive by frequently.

The campsite parking was fine, people were quite, there was plenty of shade. However, our electric box blew the breaker the second we plugged in and we had no electric, and it was 90 degrees. Normally we would have just opened windows and gone to do something else, but we were traveling with our dog and had a wedding to attend where we could not take him, and the plan was to leave him in the camper, crated with the A/C on while at the wedding. This happened at 4:45pm, after the park rangers had left. This park has NO attendants, no check in or out and no one to help if there is a problem. We called the numbers listed on the reservation and they told us to call the park rangers in the morning, nothing could be done that night. We ended up having to buy a generator to be safe since all the sites were booked and everything else within an hour of there. BUT, this review gets TWO stars because my husband did flag down a park rangers, who called maintenance and they came and fixed the electric sometime while we were buying a generator which was about 9pm. The showers and flush toilets were gated and locked in the front area, so if you needed a shower and didn't have one with you, you were out of luck. Vault toilet in front smelled like something died there. Vault toilet at campground was fine.

My experience was excellent. The sites are spacious and laid out well. There are only 19. The town is nearby for supplies. This is a nice spot for fishermen and a great spot for short stays. There would not be enough activities in the area to keep the kids happy or for long stays by others unless they are looking for just a quiet spot to stay in the fall and winter.

Nice little loop. Bathroom is kind of a ways off and the trash dumpster was overflowing. The sites are nice with some shade and level.

My wife and I find the location enjoyable and easy to access. It is small when compared with other USACE camping locations located on Lake Texoma. It is well maintained and kept clean. Toilets are located a short walking distance from the camping area, but no showers are available. Only 30amp electrical power and water, no sewer connections. A pump station is available a short drive from the camping area and is easy to access whether a pull behind or motor RV. Access to the Red River is available on both sides. The Texas side where the camping area is located is a more difficult access; however, the Oklahoma access is fairly easy. Fishing in the Red River usually produces catches of striped bass and catfish. Driving about a mile from the camping area and over the dam to more fishing access produces many fresh water fish species. Driving across Denison Dam to East Burns Run (USACE) provides good swimming beaches where water is shallow for wading and children playing. Access to East Burns Run is by a separate fee. Most of the campsites are shaded by large native trees providing great relief during the hotter months of summer from the sun heating recreations vehicles. Always tends to be a breeze during the day. No bugs, but one has to be careful about the numerous fire ant mounds located in part of the campground and along the bank of the river on the Texas side. The camp site closes the end of November about the time that eagles return for the winter months. November campers may be fortunate to see eagles returning. On the Oklahoma side of the river and opposite the campsite is an area noted for large white tail deer for those patient enough to watch for them at daybreak and sunset. Overall, it is a great value. Denison, Texas is five miles away and all modern conveniences are located there should a camper forget something.

Grass was high. Lots of fire ants. A couple of people that seemed to be living in the camp, one living in his vehicle. Loud music until after midnight. Not a good experience at all.

Showers were filthy and locked up 5 out of six days we were there. The sites have no sewer so this is a problem if you are showering in your RV, which you are forced to do. The water pressure at the dump station is so weak you will spend hours if you try and rinse your tanks.

Could benefit from improvements. Damn-site viewing-of actual-damn, can-be crowded on-the-week-ends, though excellent local delivery service, 7-days a-week.
