Waxahachie Creek offers a peaceful and quiet camping experience, with friendly staff who are helpful and accommodating. While the park shows potential and has seen some recent improvements like new water lines, there are ongoing issues such as overgrown vegetation, insect problems, and some electrical malfunctions at campsites. Many campers express a desire for better maintenance and upgrades to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

This was the most frustrating experience. I was able to make a reservation on recreation.gov for two nights in April, but it turns out the campground was (and had been for many months) closed. I spoke with no resolution to recreation.gov and COE, but was still charged for the nights. I was even sent a 'How was your stay' email after the dates had passed.

There for the eclipse, we enjoyed our camp site by the water. Watching the bluebirds was a highlight. The folks running the campground were very nice and helpful. We had a great experience.

We traveled over 1,600 mi to visit this site for the 2024 Eclipse. It was everything we had hoped for! The camp hosts were very kind and accommodating and made it a very enjoyable stay. They even ordered up a break in the clouds for us to be able to see the Eclipse!! :-)
