What Guests Are Saying
Mill Creek offers a beautiful, relaxing environment with friendly park hosts and ample space for family activities, making it a great spot for camping. Many guests appreciate the clean facilities and scenic views of the lake, along with enjoyable playgrounds for children. However, there are concerns about the maintenance of the campground, including uneven sites, overgrown grass, and the need for repairs, which detracts from the overall experience for some visitors.

Our crew had an amazing time! The facilities are clean. The park is beautiful. The park workers came around with gift bags for all the kids. The park workers participated in a game of tag with our older boys (it was comical).

We’re not able to stay due to weather and a tent that leaked. Park bathroom was much cleaner than the previous trip. Had to cancel the remainder of our trip through no fault of the park. Will try again in the spring.

Enjoyed the park, but time to update the bathrooms, especially since not a full hook- up.

Bathhouse facilities were appalling!!
Hard to believe the park has a hired outsourced crew to “supposedly” maintain and clean. That crew certainly is $$ ripping off the park.

The Goods... Excellent camp sites especially the lakeside ones. Sandy beaches are easily accessible for many sites, and are decent sizes large enough for folks to dock their kayaks/boats/pontoons. Water is calm (great for kayaking), clean looking and shallow sandy bottom to wade or play water. Maple trees everywhere providing ample shades with filtered sun for most of the sites for the whole day. Picnic tables are large and have good covers. Many places to hang hammocks. LOTs of parking spaces - one for your camper and one for your car adjacently. Some sites even have shared boat parking spots. Boat ramps are good. The roads inside the park are good to ride bicycles. Sam Rayburn Reservoir is huge with multiple campgrounds, where we found the Mill Creek to be the best one. It's a good experience to drive around the reservoir to visit the other campgrounds and the dam. Jasper is only about 20-minute drive. I would recommend Smitty BBQ and Bella Jim. Texas Joe BBQ close to the park isn't for us.
The So-So... Many sites have severe slopes especially on the shore side - You better have enough leveling blocks. Picnic tables can be cleaner. The bathroom needs to be reconstructed - Very old and unpleasant although didn't smell bad. There are no bike/hike trails. Some sites are too close, so they are quiet unless neighboring sites are loud.
The Bads... The dump station has to be reconstructed. Very dark. There are two adjacent dump stations -The smaller one does not even have a cover for the sewer hole, and the larger one has a hanging fixed water hose with no attachment to rinse black tank although there is a faucet at a distance for filling drinking water.
Overall, it's one of our favorite campgrounds and we will definitely go back. For dumping, we use Martin Dies Jr. State Park (about 30 min drive from Martin Creek) on our way back home to Houston since it has one of the best reconstructed dump station.

The park is nice and we loved our spot. The bathrooms are not cleaned very often and the toilet paper runs out. Toilets are nasty

The site was great with lake views. Would be nicer if they cleaned up the fallen trees. This is my favorite lake!
