What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Creek Park is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and well-maintained grounds, making it a favorite among campers. Guests appreciate the spacious, level sites, helpful staff, and beautiful views of the lake. However, there are concerns about the outdated restrooms and difficulties with the dump station, which could use some improvement.

We had sites 20 and 21 at Sandy Creek - two beautiful spots right on the lake. We arrived on a Sunday and departed on Friday morning - the park was quiet and enjoyable! It was clean and well cared for; a beautiful park! Each picnic table was covered - which was great - but at site 20, I couldn't put my awning all the way out, due to the closeness of the picnic table to the site pad.... that was a little inconvenient, but we worked around it without a real problem! Can't wait to go back to Sandy Creek, and next time, I think we will try to reserve site numbers 21 and 22 - I have a longer RV that would fit better in one of those sites, possibly eliminating the awning problem!

The park was quiet and clean. We enjoyed riding our bikes and exploring the area. There is a nice trail between the COE and State Park with great sunset views.

Great place to camp , and you could fish right out back in a cove off the lake . Very quiet at night and the weather was perfect. The spot was level and the area was clean and picked up .

I find it difficult to find the information to make reservations for Sandy Creek. Maybe it is at all National Parks. This is the only one I have been to. That said, we love Sandy Creek. It is a pretty place and we have been able to camp in one of the shelters twice. For some reason the one we stay in has been available even when little is open elsewhere. I love the cover over the outside picnic table at the campsite! So many times we have cooked in the sun trying to have meals while camping. Also, it is cover from the rain should that be an issue. Love this feature and wish ALL campgrounds had these!
The main thing I do not enjoy in the area we camp is the terrible toilets. All metal with NO seat in this one area. We have used other bathrooms at this campground that have seats but not the ones in the area we camp. It is terrible. Not overly fond of the pushbutton style of faucet at the sink either. At the least it needs at least 5-10 seconds longer on the timer in order to thoroughly get the soap off. Even worse I hate that method while showering. The weather was kind of chilly a couple of nights we were there and the bathroom area was warm and the water also warm.
I also wish there was a way to make the space inside the shelter a little less airy when needed. It is probably nice when it's hot but on our cold nights, we got really cold inside. We ended up having to spend the night in our van to get warm.
All in all this is a pretty campground and we've enjoyed being there and riding our bicycles. The attendant who was there while we were helped us out with firewood. We were very grateful. They do not have firewood to sell there or ice either. We were able to get ice and other supplies from a Dollar General just a short drive away.
Thank you, Sandy Creek!
