The park is adequate but not nice and I would not return. The RV sites are VERY unlevel, the asphalt is crumbling, there is only one dumpster at the entrance, amd the overall upkeep is sloppy and rundown. However, thing in particular stood out. The first camphosts we met were very nice and helpful. But then another older couple were very rude, angry, and obnoxious. The male was this huge fat man with his fat wife that drove around criticizing everyone and giving orders. When they came driving across the grass to my spot amd started ordering me around I asked if these orders were part of the park rules. He said No, I then asked him to get a park ranger. The issue was about something simple like where my truck was parked and firewood I’d stacked next to the Firepit. He drove off saying, I’ll let it go this time but not tomorrow. Since I was leaving the next day it didn’t matter. WORST CAMP HOSTS I’VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. You really need to investigate this bc the old man and his wife had serious problems.

We booked a site that claimed to support large rigs (40ft, etc), but the slope of the site was so steep, it is nearly impossible to get a 5th wheel into it. Additionally, IF you could get it in there, you would not have any room to park the tow vehicle or the second vehicle that is allowed. The listing should be updated to state that the sites that are facing the lake are for small vehicles less than 30ft. We arrived right at dark and it was raining. Once we realized it was not a place we could fit in, I did not bother to get out in the rain and go knocking on the host's trailer doors to try and get another spot as they looked to be fairly full this night. The area was beautiful though, and it would be a great place to stay if you could fit into the spot we reserved. Maybe next time.

Tent camped for one night in spot #1. This was my first visit to Sam Rayburn and I wanted to check it out. I brought my boat and loved that this campground has plenty room for truck/trailer parking at each campsite. The staff is excellent and the check-in process is very easy and hassle free. The boat ramp is fantastic as well. Most tent sites are directly on the water with excellent views. We will definitely be back!
