Camp sight was nasty. It was not cleaned up before we got there. People before had dumped food out everywhere

Love the park and staff, and have been there before, but this time there was human Feces with toilet paper lying on top of the ground at the end of the pad, food waste on and around the picnic table drawing ants from every direction, and a metal leg laying in the camp site from a portable cover.

We camped in October. The weather was perfect for campfires in the evening and relaxing during the day. Our spot was a good width and length, and wasn't too close to any neighbors. The biggest problem was the crazy ants that got in and on everything. Cell service wasn't great, but we didn't go to be on our phones. If anyone wanted to scroll FB or stream movies, this isn't your park.

Nice campsite, very quiet and peaceful. The male gate attendant is rude and has poor hygiene, but otherwise a very nice place!

Loved the people that came by to offer us firewood. I like the campground, all the ants were terrible, but we made do and still have a great trip.

We stayed one night during the off season - at the end of September - on our way through to Southern TX. We booked a campsite right near the smaller playground and our toddlers were pumped. We had quite the experience here and I think the cons were related to it being the off season. The ants were starving? Be prepared to prevent them!!!
PROS:
+beautiful, wooded park
+ lots of shade
+Bathrooms/showers are large, bright and clean and have A/C
+ Excellent playground equipment
+Utility table at site in addition to picnic table!
CONS:
-ants like you wouldn't believe
-mosquitoes
As soon as we got there and used the restroom, the tiny ants all over the floor were crawling on our feet. Cooking on our grill at the utility table brought the ants in literal hundreds. They were all over the food in minutes. They invaded the camper (our cat's food bowl drew them). The mosquitoes were also plentiful. We spent most of the night cleaning the ants' trails only to wake up in the morning to them in different places (ceiling, shower, walls - I'm telling you, everywhere and our camper was clean). It was recommended to us after to bring sugar cubes and borax and place that around the outskirts of the site.

Place is great and campsites are arranged nicely. The only problem was the ants. First morning we woke up to our camper infested with ants outside and inside. We bought insecticide and it helped but our cars and boats and campers were infiltrated with ants. Brought quite a few home with us. Won’t be back until it is sprayed and under control.

It was fun time. Would have been better if grass was mowed. This is an issue at Malden every time we camp there. That’s the only complaint.

One of the nicest sites at this campground in my opinion. Very quiet. The only issue I had was the ants. If you are going to stay here have something ready to combat them. My camper was swarmed in no time ants on every surface. Got ready to leave and my truck was covered inside and out with ants too. Next time I will be ready for them but I was not aware they were this bad. This will not keep me from staying at this site again, however. All in all I had a great time at this site.

We camp here twice a year, in the spring and the fall with 4 other couples. Always have a wonderful time. The grounds and facilities are always kept clean and neat which is a definite positive. We spend our time camping socializing with our good friends and fishing. There is nothing better than spending a day on the river catching a mess of channel catfish. I don’t know what is better though catching them or eating them. And the Park Hosts and Rangers go out of their way to make sure your camping experience is a good one. And if you forget to bring something or have problems with some of your equipment there are markets and supply stores within a short drive from the facility
