It would be great if the bridges on the long trail along the lake could be repaired . The vegetation is thick & beautiful.
The short island trail is also beautiful and there are several areas for handfishing there. We love the full hookups and the large campsites. The boat parking lot is in need of repairs due to the busy boat traffic.
This park stays very busy and could definitely warrant some tax money for repairs to restrooms.

Campsites are clean and well maintained. Bathrooms were adequate.
Nearby destinations nearby include Honey’s Biscuits in the town of New Waverly, as well as the Veteran’s Museum, the Prison Museum, Sam Houston Museum, and the Sam Houston statue in Huntsville.
The Lone Star Hiking Trail is accessible near the campgrounds.
Cagle is also a great place just to relax and enjoy nature!

First time here and we LOVED IT! Nice site; friendly hosts and neighbors. Bathrooms were just “OK”; could have been better maintained.

Great campsite on Lake Conroe with gorgeous views. Camp hosts (especially Jesse) were great. Bathrooms well maintained -- not luxurious, but clean and functional. Campsite has some decent trails for casual day hiking. Great population of songbirds in late March when we camped there.
