What Guests Are Saying
Pat Mayse West is a beautiful and peaceful campground, well-maintained with great views of the lake and surrounding wildlife. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and easy access to facilities, including a dump station and good cell service. While some areas, such as the restrooms and entrance roads, need updates, the overall camping experience is enjoyable, with excellent fishing and a strong sense of community among campers.

We came in on a Wednesday and stayed until Saturday afternoon. The electricity went off twice, but just for a short period of time. The wind was blowing hard and lightening everywhere, so that is to be expected. The grounds were in good shape except for the boat dock. (the corner was under water). We caught lots of crappy but were too small to eat. (fishing from the dock only) It was Very quiet there. (Nov 10-13-2021)

We arrived well after dark and found the directional signs to be in very poor condition. Even when you right up on them they were hard to read.
When we got to the campsite some of the site numbers were not readable.
The road coming into to the campsites had alot of ruts.
Even with these concerns we would still revisit the lake.
The area definitely needs improvement.

Apparently, there have been problems in the showers, so they were closed without posting. Site was fine, but closed showers was a huge bummer.

This review comes with a few reservations. This was our first visit to the campgound. It is difficult to be critical about individual campsites as it is so hard to determine from a small photo the site you are selecting. The site we had selected had a lovely view of the lake. However, the site was grossly not level sloping toward the lake. We were able to get our rig level, but with much stress and concern about the site. We arrived on Nov 4th, there was no one in the park entry office and a sign stating that no one would be there. All booking online, which we had done in advance. No park maps available, no emergency number listed, nothing. The park entrance has three very nice carport covers with three nice RV's parked there and still not a sole that we ever saw there during our 3 night stay.
Concerns: There was only one loop open for camping, and that is the loop we were camping in. There was no dumpster at all in the actual campgound to use. There were several dumpsters for trash at the dump station that was not a walkable distance from your camping site. The showers and restrooms in the loop we were in were locked the entire time we were there. Seriously, no showers available? We did walk up the first full day we were there to the dump station and there were also showers there with restrooms that were open. However, the next day they were also deadbolted and locked. How can you have campsites and not even have a shower or restroom available for a campground. I just don't get it? If you are going to close the campgound then close it but don't rent out sites and then not provide services. If there would have been any type of an emergency then who is available for help? One evening, there were two small dogs that had been tethered to a leash outside for hours with clearly no one at the campsite. These poor dogs barked for hours, and I am sure they were cold, hungry and thirsty as it was far after dark before they stopped barking. Where is a park host?

If I have to pay full price shouldn't the amenities be usable? The showers were locked. A camper had some yapping dogs that went on for 3 hours and the sheriff's department was called to take care of it but it went on until they returned.
