What Guests Are Saying
Pat Mayse West is a beautiful and peaceful campground, well-maintained with great views of the lake and surrounding wildlife. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and easy access to facilities, including a dump station and good cell service. While some areas, such as the restrooms and entrance roads, need updates, the overall camping experience is enjoyable, with excellent fishing and a strong sense of community among campers.

Everything was fine with our camping experience, but we had to leave 2 days early and we have not been reimbursed for those 2 days. There was no one at the gate house when we left. I went back the next day and talked to the Lady at the gate and she said there was no one there Saturday, which is the day we left.
She said she would talk to the Manager about getting me credit but nothing has been done. We also left our tags in the box at the gate house when we left.

Great fishing lake. Staff was excellent, very kind and helpful. Helped us a few times after a storm.
Sites need upgrading, unlevel and electric is only 30 amp, and needs to be upgraded to 50.

Great location (A4) with a good view of the lake. The sites are not too close together and have a picnic table, fire ring, a standing grill, and a lantern pole. The fire ring looked new and included a grill (not adjustable) and hook to hang a cast iron pot. The standing grill was the height adjustable style. Your about 25 minutes from Paris, TX if you need supplies. We were told they sell firewood at Kelley Honey Farms about 5-10 minutes a way from the campsite, however, we came in late on a Sunday and they were already closed. Most the roads are paved but have some ruts in them and came be a bit of a rough ride. There are showers and bathrooms. I only peaked at them but they seemed clean. The camp host was friendly and helpful.
I'd definitely go back to this site!

We had a great time during our stay at Pat Mayse West. Our site was on the water and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pat Mayes West. We were in loop B and stayed in tents. We were able to find a flat place in our site to put out tent, but thought some of the sites may be more challenging to find a level tent placement. In early April the area was lush and green with many mature trees, and was truly excellent for birding with a surprising abundance of species. Loop B has a pit toilet that was always well cleaned and stoked with toilet paper, and you could go to loop A to get showers. Cell reception ranged from great to just barely usable depending on where in loop B we were, and was best at the main shore of the lake. We made sure to arrive before the 10pm cutoff, and noticed drive over spikes when exiting early in the morning - so that element of the instructions appears accurate. Overall we would recommend this campground!

This is an amazing campground! Very well maintained, great sites, and a beautiful location. The pit toilets were so clean and so were the flush toilets. It was easy to find but felt secluded. The folks running it were so kind, happy, and helpful. We tent camped and there was a large flat place for the tent. It was nice having 2 picnic tables at our site, both in great condition. They don't sell firewood at the campsite so bring your own, the fire pit was just right. I highly recommend this campground.

Safe, quiet, peaceful, clean and beautiful campgrounds. Perfect for enjoying the eclipse.
The birding was great, bring binoculars or camera.

A very quiet and relaxing campground to enjoy with family. Great acess to the water at our site (105). The one shade tree gave a nice area of moving shade through out the day for 3-4 people. Could see fish jumping nearby and a variety of birds. We didn't see any wood for sale at the park, so bring your own. Near a dock so occasionally boats would come in to park.
